Remember 9-11 Ride

I got together with 500 of my closest friends on 9-11-2008 to ride to a ceremony in Long Beach, honoring those who lost their lives on 9-11-2001.  This annual ride started from Cook’s Corner in Trabuco Canyon and ended in Long Beach, California.

Traffic was pretty heavy for parts of the ride, so the group got spread out and separated, but most of us somehow came back together on Pacific Coast Highway in the Huntington Beach area.  Seeing over 500 cruisers stretching for half a mile and covering all lanes of traffic, as we rode along side the ocean, is an image I won’t soon forget.  We spent a little time with some local fire department companies, and then fired up our bikes and went our ways.

Coming back, the evening air was cool as I drove right at the moon, hung low over PCH.  There was still plenty of traffic on the other side of the road, but my side was strangely wide open as I rode past the beaches with nothing to slow me down.  It just doesn’t get much better.
